Today I convinced a telemarketer that she couldn't send me a credit card because I go to Harvard, except of course that I go to the University of Georgia. Evil me.

Assholes suck though, pity.

so he won himself a time out, only we can't call it a time out anymore because the state of Georgia's daycare certification board says that's demeaning.

What a joke. Somebody should tell the yahoo that came up with that idea they can't enforce socail justice with censorship. Here we can only give kids a hug with one arm. I've been told it's to avoid being accused of molesting a child.

We're under a new set of regulations and they're just unbelievably stupid. The "no time outs" rule apparently is an attempt to stop frustrated childcare workers from screaming "TIME OUT!" to a troublesome kid rather than actually dealing with the issue. We've never done that - our approach is more like "Look, kiddo, it's not ok to punch people in the face, and I've told you so six times, but you continue to punch people in the face. I think you need to miss a few minutes of the game to sit here and think about why punching people in the face is uncool." It's a logical, caring, and fair approach, but we can't do it if it involves the words "time out," and we're generally discouraged from doing it at all. How we're supposed to control the kids is beyond me.

We have the one-arm hug rule too, now, but I think it's going to end up being judiciously ignored.
