I have come to the conclusion that I will *never* make it as a writer in any way, shape or form; except to compose a shopping list. And even that is probably beyond my capabilities at present. What ever I type is trite, boring and amateurish in the extreme. So who am I kidding

You are a talented writer. Your writing is not trite, boring or amateurish. It is absorbing, well-researched and elegant. The world would be a sadder place if you stopped writing, and I would be very sad, too.

Now stop being mean to my friend. She's a talented writer and deserves better than the things you were saying about her.
