I like that Eternal Sunshine dispelled the myths of serendipity, etc. But actually, I felt it reinforced them. For the most part, I believe life and love are games of chance. We bounce around like pinballs hoping to connect with someone or something, and sometimes we miss by inches. Some people get the high scores, some don't even get on the board. But it's life, it's love, it's the way things are. That movie reassured me, made me realize that no matter what choices I made in life, I could always have them, I wouldn't have to give them up. And ultimately, I wouldn't want to.

Jess Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is actually kind of applicable to what you're going through right now, I think. It was saying that no matter the outcome of a situation, what we have to remember and enjoy are the good times. We can't live our lives worrying about what might or will happen with someone, we just have to live in the moment (cliche? yes, but shut up I'm making a deep fucking point) and remember the times that made us happy. I am so sorry about your grandma but try and remember the bonding times, the moments that made you so fond of her, and keep that image of her with you forever.
