Sometimes just writing is therapeutic...konpuddleduckSeptember 3 2006, 21:04:23 UTC
Hey kiddo (no patronizing tone intended, i just like to say kiddo),
Asian, specifically Chinese, parental units have this inherited tendency to be neurotic, incapable of understanding, overly demanding and with unrealistically high expectations. Trust me, its a cultural thing. And if your Chinese parents didn't do it, they were probably either (a) born here, (b) raised here or (c) both a and b.
Somewhere around middle school, the arguing, the yelling, the demanding starts escalating. It still happens in this household, too. We just don't air our dirty laundry on the lawn, so to speak.
Parents still love us (I think). They just don't know how to. Crying helps. So does beating things up.

You mean you don't know my initials? I should be offended... we spent some quality years in your mother's Chinese class, in dance class, and at Chinese Heritage Camp. Any idea who I am now?
