It seems that I angered the baseball gods by having faith in my team. I knew better, but I just couldn't help it. They were so cute and hopeful. Being at the game last night was pretty cool (there were F-16s!) despite the outcome. The best thing ever, though, was this morning's wrap-up of the series on NPR ( Read more... )

Hey, we have one of those! With a pixie cut, even. We also have a ladybug.

I had a ladybug a few years ago. This year she's a wolf because her sister is afraid of the wolf and life is perfect when you are torturing your sister. Or so I surmise given the frequency of such actions.

I like that our ladybug and our fairy princess both have wings, but the finer zoological points are lost on my subjects.

The fairy princess has taken to claiming "dragon" and "ghost" status around the house, though, so I'm wondering if we have a hybrid on our hands. I don't mind this so much, as she still buys the "dragons LOVE to put their blocks away!" argument and will roar with every block she drops into the box.

The wolf told me this weekend that sometimes she likes to put away her toys. And sometimes she doesn't. You know, it's all very existential in our house. Sometimes the wind blows and other times, there's just no wind. Who can predict the way of the wind?

And then last night my phone decided it was on Greenwhich Mean Time for some reason. Is it a sign?

Yes, it is.

I knew it! Of what is it a sign? Am I supposed to give up my job that I love, at which I don't have enough experience to translate to positions in Parliament or similar, and my 2500 sq. ft. house with a giant yard for a 2-bedroom flat with a tiny refrigerator? And take my kids away from their grandparents to move to a place where we have no family or friends to help us with our demon spawn? I mean, it's London, but there are down sides, too.

(sorry for the delay)

Your poli sci and research skills and knowledge can translate to many, many jobs. Plus, you have this wordly-ness about you that screams to be across the pond.

So, we find me a job too, and Mark, Sophie and I will go. I'm sure Mark can do something computer or mobile phone related there. And Sophie is becoming old enough to babysit!

If Rudy Giulliani becomes president, we are soooo doing this.

Oh please, the chances of you moving to Denver are so tiny. Almost as tiny as the chances of me moving to London right now. I mean, there was a snowflake here once.

Is it a sign?

No... but any time someone asks if something is a sign, that is a sign.

Oh, absolutely. I want to move to London and I want an overwhelming reason to do so right now, despite my better judgment. Although, my phone hasn't gone back to Zulu since Sunday night. Maybe it was just a sign that the phone is fucked up.

Don't blame you a bit. I loved it so much I didn't really want to come back. What I wanted was for all my friends (example: you) to move there as well.
