Jake (OMG! We have a greyhound living with us!)

He's gorgeous. He stands at about 72cm at the shoulder, so he's not exactly what you'd call a small, or even medium-sized dog, and he's bloody strong. It was a bitch trying to get him in the car after we picked him up- he noticed a) wallabies in the grass near the front of the hotel where we picked him up, and then b) an aeroplane in the distance- ( Read more... )

I'd love to have a greyhound, they seem like such great dogs. He sounds just perfect for you guys. :)

D00d, he's awesome! :D
And... yeah... they have great personalities- he's pretty much just like what all the owners I've spoken to have said their dogs are like- placid, a bit cheeky, a total slob, and a "people-person" dog.

Not even a day into having him here, I'd say... if you're thinking about getting one... it's worth looking into. :)

Oohh, Jessie, I'm so happy for you, and for Jake, too, of course! I'm a big greyhound nut too--I was looking for one to adopt when Otter sort of fell into my lap. One of the groups was really overly strict, if you ask me--they wouldn't let me have one because I had hardwood floors at my old house, and the greyhound could...slip or something. No, really. But the other local group had a beautiful girl named Jazz who seemed perfect. She was so sweet and goofy underneath her elegant exterior, and I was SO sad when she was adopted by another family. But it was right around then that I found Otter on Petfinder.org, mostly by accident, so clearly things worked out for the best. *hugs you and doggy*

Aw, that's sad about Jazz, d00d... but... animals have the weirdest way of finding us. We actually nearly applied for one in 2002- on the day I'd printed up an application form at work and filled it out, my sister came home and said, "Do you want a cat...? I know a kitten who needs a good home..." and we wound up not applying for a dog because we knew we'd be getting Macavity settled into the house... As for Bandelle- the only reason Petri chose him (after I'd been pushing him towards it, I'll admit) was because someone else bought the cat he initially wanted... it's weird how pet situations happen, eh?

No, really. That does sound a bit strict. The GAP out here foster the dogs out before they get adopted- so they can get used to household stuff a bit- hardwood floors, big glass windows (both of which we have), stairs, that sort of shit, plus things like TVs ( ... )

That's really great that you're so happy with Jake! He really is beautiful :)

Heh. When you described the maintainance guy behind the school with his animals my first thought was "Hagrid!"

Thanks d00d!

*cackles*

You're sorta right in a way- although they didn't look alike, it was a similar sort of deal. And like the way Draco gave Harry shit for hanging out with Hagrid, I remember kids in my class being all, "You know the maintainance people around here?" which just showed how utterly fucked up and classist some of the people I went to school with were. Bob just totally kicked arse, d00d.... :D
