Tattoo to Honor Sybil

Nov 08, 2005 01:00

So, I never thought I would get a tattoo, but in the months following Sybil's death, I've considered it seriously. I've been wearing a Livestrong bracelet in her honor for at least 8 or 9 months, and I'd prefer to have something more personal to take its place. The tattoo idea is on my mind, and I want it. I want to do it right. I am looking for ( Read more... )

What a beautiful idea!

My tattoo is a chain of flowers around my right ankle. It was most painful in the areas where it was closest to the bone, so based on that and on what my tattooed friends have told me, I think that the more padding you have in the tattooed area, the less it will hurt.

Such a lovely idea! I know absolutely nothing about tattoes except they look painful. There are some gorgeous designs out there - I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect one.

I, too, have heard that tattoos are more painful the closer you are to the bone. I also heard a tip to make sure you're not ticklish wherever the tattoo will be, because that'll be hard to sit through ( ... )

what a cool idea!
i think of her more as a butterfly:)
pretty and free...
it is so heart braking to realize she is gone and how she went.
i still can not understand why God would let this happen:(
i hope she is in a wonderful new place where nothing can harm her again.

I told you about the fairy tattoo I got in honor of her. We had planned to go in together, when she recovered. She was going to get a rose over her hickman site (there's an idea for you). And I was going to add the fairy to my existing work, in which Sybil was when I had it started; and she got her belly button pierced.

After her death, I knew I had to finish the piece, making the fairy/faerie/fae even more fitting. At the same time, I spontaneously asked the tattooist to also add a spider, not even knowing it was her totem at the time!

Oh yeah, and the tattooist said, "Now, it's completed". I didn't even tell him the story, or if that was the final work to be done on it. Kinda strange. I felt almost as if she was there with me anyway, just as we had planned. :*o(

Correction: He said, "Now it's complete".. not completed.

Hey, why not get a tattoo that combines both a butterfly, and a spider, etc. Like a garden theme. That way you'll still have her totem, but not in a *scary* spider way.

I just wanted to say that knowing Sybil as I did, your story absolutely gave me chills, and made me smile. Thank you.
