So I spent several several hours at work (while actually doing work, thanks very much) watching this year's Dancing With the Stars. Under any other circumstances, I might say "sorry" and hang my head in shame. In this case, it's all because Ralph Macchio is one of the Stars. Okay, technically that's *still* a reason to hang my head in shame, but

*grins* I've caught it off and on through the years, but am watching it this year because of Ralph Macchio. While I've caught it, I've never been able to figure out why I like the judges, but you're right. They are professionals in the field that are judging the dancing without babying the contestants. (For the most part.)

I think part of it (the judges) is that regardless of their personality quirks, they seem genuine in their attempts to give helpful criticisms. I think that may seem out of place to a lot of people because, I mean really, these people are already stars. The audience doesn't really care if they ever learn to dance or not, they just get off on reality TV and drama and legally sexy dancing (when did ballroom start looking like high class club dancing? I'm such a prude...) with people they know and fantasize about, or whatever. It's a popularity contest, and here are these three people actually trying to make it about the dancing. I thing the over-the-top personalities of the male judges make it a little more entertaining even as they give good advice. 12 seasons says it must be working for someone... :D

The article was amusing, I haven't even heard of half those shows, but I have to say the review of the air head was pretty spot on (actually, so was the one on Ellen, what little I saw of her days on Idol).
