I get tatting thread at JoAnn's, Michael's; any place that has an embroidery and/or crochet section has been likely. I mail order the linen thread from http://www.snowgooselace.com/ among other places ( my usual place just closed). Lacis in California is another place. Actually, I get a fair amount of thread on eBay, but you rather have to know what your'e looking for.
