An argument for mending

During WWII, the Ministry of Information put out a pamphlet titled "Make do and Mend." I picked up a reproduction at the V&A while I was in London. I hear ya'.

I was taught from an early age to make do and so I tend to have the opposite problem of not throwing anything away. I also have a little box of random buttons in case I need to attach them to something. XD

That being said, I did just spend the weekend going through my cupboards (under duress; Mum made me) and getting rid of things I don't wear any more or are too small - but then there are always charities collecting old clothes around here so we usually just hand them over to them so it isn't exactly throwing away.

I have this problem as well - I also have a jar full of buttons, but I do use them rather frequently, what with sewing and all. There's a nice place nearby that takes old clothes and such and we send a lot of Iris's clothes there. Girl has more clothes than Barbie and grows something like two inches every month. I'm only exaggerating a little.

Thrift shops are great for both buying and selling, depending on what you're looking for. I've bought exactly two new pairs of jeans in the past...

...ever. I don't even know how long. Have I ever bought new jeans except the one time?

Anyway, the rest are hand-me-downs or thrift store jeans, but they're usually Levi's, so I try to keep them in good repair.
