To my legislators.
I want them to repeal civil unions in Washington.
And the Defense of Marriage Act.
Then, more importantly, change the term for all state-recognized relationships to civil-union to disambiguate it from the social and religious construct/institution of marriage. So that you can feel safe that your church or whatever will never be forced or compelled to perform any marriage for anyone it wants to or recognize any state-recognized relationship. On the other hand, the state is not compelled to recognize that either as it's no longer its business. The state can grant the same rights previously defined as marriage, but the idea is would now be better separated by a different term. Marriages in other states would be recognized as civil unions in Washington with the same rights and responsibilities.
I think this would help people not have as much of a problem with equal state relationship recognitions by no longer calling them by the same term used by religions for relationships they recognize and give special rights/responsibilities to.
Otherwise:
I hope SDOT gets back to me soon about using the newer bike-stop symbols for the loop detectors in the city rather than the current anonymous-looking "T"s.
