It's been a while since I've posted here, so here goes...
1. Finally finished my Masters Degree in Dec. and got it in the mail in Feb. woohoo!
2. Had a couple of training events for work the past 2 weeks. Got to go to NASA in Houston for one and the other was in downtown Austin. I really enjoyed both and got to meet new people and learn new stuff.
3. Work is crazy as usual and I'm still behind, so I'm playing catchup there. Trying to get a friend of mine from New Orleans to move out here and get a job with me, but we reorganized recently, so the job she applied for doesn't exist anymore. I hope they open another one soon.
4. Been trying to catch concerts when I can. Saw the NINJA tour a couple of weeks ago. NIN was great as always and I really enjoyed seeing Janes Addiction. I didn't get to see them before they broke up all those years ago, so it was fun! Tonight is 80's night at the goth club I go to here called
Elysium. They have an 80's band (
When in Rome) starting off the night before they get into the DJ music. I also went to the
TX Rockabilly Revival Festival recently with my buddy Doug and saw the Reverand Horton Heat. That was a lot of fun! And I bought my tickets for the Depeche Mode concert in August in Dallas. I'll be going to that with some girlfriends that live here in Austin. DM is my fave band, so I couldn't pass that up. This year
Austin City Limits is in Oct, so I won't miss any of it due to work. I bought a weekend pass before they sold out. Woohoo! This year the Beastie Boys, the B-52s, the Toadies, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, the Dave Matthews Band, and many others are playing.
5. I have some trips coming up this year too... next month is my 20 year high school reunion and I'll be able to see folks from both high schools that I went to (Slidell High School and Northshore High School) since they planned both reunions for the same weekend. I'm psyched to see all of my old classmates again! I plan on going to a training class in DC in October and it falls the week after my birthday (Oct 18th). So I plan on going out to
Spellbound and the
MD Ren Faire to celebrate my birthday weekend before I do training that next week. I'm trying to go to Parris & Tiffany's wedding on Halloween, but my travel plans are a bit screwed at this point, so we'll just have to see if I can make it to that. In November I'll be driving back to the New Orleans area for a week for a Habitat for Humanity build in Mandeville in association with the
NCMA. I'll be visiting my sister for Thanksgiving, who's on a detail for work in Hawaii. I've never been there before, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be in Alabama for Christmas as usual to spend time with my family. My nieces and nephews are growing up so fast!
6. I'm planning some seriously awesome trips for next year (2010). Mardi Gras is a must as usual since I ride in the
Krewe of Tucks parade. I'll be one of their maids at the Coronation Ball in Jan, so that will be fun. I have to dress up in a French Maid outfit. LOL! This time next year, I plan on visiting John in Amsterdam and my old co-worker Pam in Japan. I plan to fly out to Amsterdam and on that first weekend we'll drive to Leipzig, Germany to go to the
Wave Gotik Treffen festival for a couple of days and then drive back. I'll see Amsterdam and Holland that week and then fly to Japan to see Pam for a week. She works at the
Yakota Air Force Base. I'm so excited about this trip!! :D And in November 2010, I'm trying to go visit my Mom's side of the family in Spain for 3 weeks. I think I was 8 years old the last time I went to Spain. The trips I've planned since then have all been postponed or cancelled. I have cousins with children that I don't even know about. Some of them have been joining my facebook page recently, so maybe I can get to know them there till I visit. I'm trying to get my Mom and Dad to go with me, but it'll depend on the dollar exchange rate at that time. I hope they can make it. :)
Other than all of that, I'm doing fine and am the busy bee I usually am. :)
