Emily's near accident with Crocs

Aug 09, 2007 23:03

Remember these stories? It almost happened to Emily just now when we took her shopping in Wisma Sanyan. When I read the blog about all the accidents which had happened involving children who wore Crocs, I shuddered because that could have happened to Emily as well. We were going up on the escalators and she was holding hubby's hand. Usually she's ( Read more... )

We don't have Birkenstock here :(

I have a pair of MJ in Gold. They do have it in kids sizes but it's similar to her current pair of Disney Crocs. They both have big heads and holes in the toes so maybe not that safe? I am thinking of getting her either a pair of Athens or Scutes but they are not as cute as the MJ or Cayman...

Thanks! I think I will get her another pair of Crocs, in a different design. Just have to be extra extra careful when we use the escalators from now on.

Thank God Emily is ok!

J wears crocs most of the time also and he takes the escalator almost everday cos my place is just above the shopping mall. I always keep watch of his feet each time cos i read of quite a few accidents in the papers already. Now i've got to remind hubby to watch over him when he takes him out.

Thank you, E.

Better be extra careful then since he takes escalators every day. Really cannot afford to let this kind of accident happen.

For myself, I almost fell a few time in my Crocs. For me, it is because the friction between the Crocs and the ground is so large, so sometimes when I do not angle my landing foot properly, the tip of my shoes get caught with the ground, and I'll almost trip by the sheer friction.

I think that the accidents with kids occurs because of the friction problem too. The high friction offered by the Crocs grip on to the sides panel of the escalator too well, plus the material is flexible - so it all rolls under the moving escalator, along with the toes. Urggh. A regular pair of sports shoes would not have such high friction with the side panels of the escalator, and even if they do, they are usually not so flexible, so chances of it rolling under the moving escalator is lower.

Urgh... I am glad E did not get hurt.

In your prima? Now that you mentioned it, I remember I almost tripped a few times too while we were taking the travelators in KL recently. I do hope the company can come up with a solution to solve the friction problem. The shoes are comfy and ergonomical but these accidents are just so scary.

Yup in my Primas.

Well i think that accidents are unavoidable, whichever shoes we are in. We have have to be more careful, especially when taking the escalator. Not only with shoes, but with long skirts, loose laces etc too.

The only difference between kids and adults is that we have knowledge of the existance of such accidents, and the awareness to be careful. Kids, however, are more ignorant, and also more careless in general due to their lack of experience.

Thank God indeed! MIL was freaked out when I told her about it this morning. She never knew it could be so dangerous for kids to be on escalators.

Be extra careful with your kids when they are on the escalators since they are everywhere in KL.
