Recently some huge billboards along major roadways showed black-and-white photos of car wrecks -- gashed and mangled metal, clouds of steam and smoke -- all illumined under the luridness of fire, flares, searchlights and siren lights. You can sit on that one and think about it all day. That's a lot to take in right there. The whole point of fasting...I never really understood it completely since I have never fully done a "30 hour famine". The moment I feel hungry, whether it be 10 minutes or 12 hours, I eat. I always thought it wasn't healthy to do. I always thought that you should not do it when you are athletic or someone who needs food and water for their body. But then that defeats the point. Fasting was made so you feel what an empty stomach is and know you can't feed it. It's the feeling of dizziness and exhaustion. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Awesome...Just awesome :)

I think I may try and do a fast this Easter. Not on Easter Sunday, though - too much awesome food for that! But I think I may try going Good Friday and, if possible, that Saturday.
Thanks for this, B. As always, very thought-provoking material.
