Mir, in the name of fanservice and true love, wrapped an arm around Thunder’s waist and nuzzled the crook of his neck. Leaning into the touch, Thunder sighed softly and smiled even more softly. Hips met and ribs aligned and Mir loved how their puzzle pieces fit together no matter what the position.

“Hey, Thunder! Come here.” Rain, looking casual and casually gorgeous in ripped jeans and a white t-shirt, beckoned and smiled broadly.

Straightening and returning the smile with one of his own, Thunder murmured, “Excuse me for a sec,” before loping over to their boss.

Mir huffed a bit before acknowledging to himself that Rain-hyung would take precedence in most situations. It came with being the boss and with just being Rain. Until Rain laid a hand on Thunder’s shoulder and squeezed. Until Thunder grinned under that possessive touch and Rain said something, low and close to his ear, that made Thunder laugh and hug the older man.

He felt his eyes narrow and his lips tighten. Thunder hugging Rain? It took national treaties to get him to hug the other members most days. And the laugh. What was up with the laugh? So full of confidence and joy. When had Thunder, his Thunder, begun to be close enough to their boss to laugh like that and hug him like that? Mir’s teeth clenched.

Thunder stepped away from Rain and glanced over at him. Mir knew when Thunder recognized his expression and something like guilt slid over his features. That fleeting guilt sucker punched Mir and he gasped. Air evaporated and his lungs labored. He wondered if he would die from shock, from betrayal, from heartbreak.

He wondered if he would ever be able to breathe without Thunder to fill the air around him.

Turning, he walked, and then ran down corridors and out a side door. He ran like the ridiculous characters in dramas and animes, ran like the hounds of hell were after him. As he ran and panted for breath, his mind ran through the past couple of weeks. Those moments of eye-speak between Rain and Thunder when they thought he, Mir, wasn’t looking. The suppressed grins when he caught them in the rehearsal room or, a couple of times, close together at the kitchen table. Then there were those phone calls taken in another room and the rapid excited way Thunder spoke during those calls, too low and too fast for Mir to make out.

Collapsing on a bench, breath whistling in and out of his mouth, Mir buried his face in his hands. He hadn’t been suspicious, not really, because Thunder was so good. Just damn good and sweet. And more innocent than any of them combined. Mir would have bet anything, anything, that Thunder wouldn’t know how to lie, deceive or prevaricate. Especially in their relationship, in their bed.

Cursing inwardly and realizing he was gathering a crowd of fangirls, Mir inhaled deeply and stood. The girls shrieked and clicked their camera phones. They were like ants invariably attracted to sugar, he thought. He sighed, smiled and bowed. Not their fault his boyfriend was a cheating jackass, he reminded himself as he hurried back to the apartment. Not their fault his boss had a thing for someone else’s man, obviously.

He rode the elevator to the apartment and thought he would cry if only he could feel past the exhaustion and numbed shock of it. Sweaty and growing steadily thirstier, he unlocked the front door, slipped off his shoes and nearly fell backwards at the wave of “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” shouted at him. Blinking stupidly in the sudden flood of light, he saw G.O., Joon, and Seungho grinning at him. Arms full of a giant cake, Thunder smiled at him, a little hesitant, a little worried. Rain stood behind them, arms draped around Mir’s sister and mother. He smiled and winked when the women raced to Mir to hug him and pat him and lecture him about showing up all sweaty and nasty at his own birthday party.

There were gifts, cake, food, balloons, streamers, and embarrassing childhood stories. Mir learned how his family came to be there during a rambling and excited conversation with a cousin. He looked at his hyung and grinned.

“Thank you, hyung.” Mir, feeling a little tipsy, bounded up to him for a hug.

Rain laughed. “It was Thunder’s idea. I just helped.”

“Why you? Why not Seungho or Joon or even G.O.?” Shifting to one side, Mir watched his boyfriend smile at something his mom said.

“Because I don’t live with you. I could buy and store supplies. Make the phone calls without you overhearing or coming across them.” Rain smirked. “He’s surprisingly sneaky.”

“Yes. Yes he is.” Mir narrowed his eyes again. “Indeed he is.” And licked his lips. Sneaky boys should be punished. Thunder glanced up, recognized that expression easily, and blushed.
