MBLAQ 25 fics challenge He didn’t require lock-picks or a feel for tumblers falling into place. All he needed was that slow molasses smile, rare and fleeting but worth the wait. Worth the watch. All he needed was too-serious eyes that could light up like fireworks with laughter, dragging everyone in the vicinity into mirth even when they had no idea what they were laughing at. Or even if they suspected he was laughing at them.
Joon unconsciously waited for that smile, for those sparkling eyes. He waited for the feel of his heart snicking open and his soul spreading languidly into the sun warmth of Cheondong's laughter. There was nothing furtive about the younger man. He didn't need to sneak through darkened streets or slip silently through carelessly unlocked windows. He simply looked into Joon's eyes and slid quietly into his core.
There was nothing flashy about his slightly-chubby cheeks and almost-girly voice. He wasn't ripped muscles and tan skin and sharp jawline. Joon wondered why he felt drawn so helplessly to him. Then he snuggled into his side for one brief shining second before drawing away to stand just a little apart from Joon. Warmth lingered on Joon's ribs. He swore he could still feel Cheondong's hipbone pressing into his.
“Why so serious?” Mir rasped the question in a mimicry of the Joker, trying to draw a smile out of the typically vivacious older man.
With a halfhearted quirk of his lips, Joon said, “I was thinking about thieves.”
“Thieves? Was something of yours stolen?” Grabbing his hand, Mir frowned and tried to think what could have vanished from Joon's belongings. Tried to make sure he hadn't borrowed anything recently without asking.
He hated when Joon looked so darkly thoughtful.
“Yea. Something was stolen.” Joon rubbed an absentminded hand against his chest.
“Really? What was it? Should we file a police report? Do you need to buy a replacement?”
Cheondong wandered over drawn by Mir's excitable flailing. “What's going on?”
“Something of Joon's was stolen.”
“Oh man. Do we need to call the cops? Maybe have security increased? Who is going to be the one to break this to Bi-hyung?” Cheondong kept his eyes steady on Joon and didn't raise his voice.
“It's nothing you need to worry about. The police don't need to be involved. Neither does Bi-hyung nor security. It's not replaceable.” He patted Mir's hand and nodded at Cheondong. “I think it is better off where it is now, anyway.”
Baffled, Mir and Cheondong watched him walk away before turning bewildered gazes on each other. After a few seconds of silent communication, they both shrugged. Joon had always been a strange one.
