Summary: Breaking inside and out
The glass cracked, a spider web radiating from the tip of the crowbar. Vibrations radiated up his arms. There was the pain, that damning pain weighing on his chest but it fissured a little. Sort of the glass. He drew back and slammed the crowbar against the window again. And again.
When shards tinkled to the floor inside, he moved to the next and repeated the process. With each crack, his heart cracked in sympathy. He knew what it was to shatter. To split apart piece by piece until he fell to the ground in irreparable bits of sharp, jagged edges. He knew it so well.
When the last window fell apart, tears fell from his eyes, slipping down his cheeks. Chest heaving and mouth gaping on silent sobs, he drew back the crowbar and launched it into the sky. He could see it flipping end over end but his vision blurred until he only saw indistinguishable impressions of color and shape.
He fell to his knees, then forward on his hands and let his sorrow water the grass, seep into the soil.
