must be nice

must be nice to never be wrong
to live in your ivory tower
so far above the peasants and the filth
do you enjoy looking down on me?
me who will never be truly clean again
who can never wash away the dirt and the sins
the past clinging to my skin, my heart, my mind, my soul
how i wish i could live in your gleaming clean tower
but i can't
smudges and fingerprints and detritus of life with commoners
are you fulfilled up there in your white edifice?
does it keep you warm and happy?
i look up and you look down
across the distance, this divide.
