He swirled his cape and laughed wickedly at the belly dancer trying to flirt with him. Her conversation was not as witty as she seemed to believe. Still, she was drunk and he was three beers into a rather boring night. Might as well make the most of even her mild entertainment. Obligatory Halloween parties didn't excite him.
Gazing out over the crowd of vampires (he knew he was unoriginal), belly dancers, Cleopatras, and zombies, Rain sipped his beer and let the belly dancer's voice blend with the pumping music. A glint of burgundy hair caught his eye. Lowering the beer bottle, he stared at the very sexy and very under-dressed man with the dark red hair. Without bothering to say “Excuse me”, he moved into the crowd, oblivious to the belly dancer's hanging jaw and glaring eyes.
“You've just made my night much less boring.” He basically yelled into the redhead's ear because of the music. Not particularly seductive but he worked with what he had.
The man turned and smiled. Sweat glistened on his sharp cheekbones and across his smooth, tanned chest. “I haven't done anything...yet.” His voice turned a little naughty on the last word.
“As long as there is still time.” Rain admired the half-naked cowboy costume the man was wearing - those jeans hugged him in all the right places. “What's your name?”
“Joon. You can call me Joon.” He flicked one upturned corner of Rain's cape. “What's your name? Alucard?”
“Nothing so sinister. Rain. Everybody calls me Rain.”
Joon licked his lips. “Rain, huh? Perhaps I'll get to taste the...Rain.”
Laughing, Rain shook his head. “That one has been used before. You've got great delivery, though.”
“Oh, Rain. You have no idea.” Settling the black cowboy hat back on his head - it had been dangling down his back held on by two strings around his neck - he gestured towards the bar. “How about you buy me a drink and maybe we can talk outside?”
Not opposed to the suggestion, Rain followed Joon to the bar and bought them both a beer. Heading outside, he took the time to admire the muscles rippling under Joon's skin. His back was a work of anatomical perfection. Rain hoped he'd get a taste of Joon before the night was over.
Leaning against an outside wall of the club, he took a pull of his beer. “Why are you dressed as a cowboy?”
“Not why am I half-naked?” Joon grinned.
“That I figured was a favor to all of humanity. But why a cowboy, of all things?”
Gazing at the label on his bottle, Joon sighed. “Because, for a brief time in my very checkered past, I was a cowboy.”
“Seriously. A Korean cowboy?”
Joon shrugged. “It was a change. Very dusty. Very rugged. And wild.”
“Sure. I'm sure it was wild out on what? A dude ranch, I think they're called?” Rain laughed, expecting Joon to join in.
Instead Joon tipped his head to the side to look at Rain. “It wasn't on a dude ranch.”
“Still, how wild can the Wild West be now?”
Something flickered in Joon's dark eyes. “It was a different time.”
Confused by the seriousness of Joon's demeanor, Rain shrugged. “I have no real experience outside of Asia. Been to a couple of European countries but never made it across the ocean.”
Suddenly Joon smiled, bright enough to make Rain feel like he should squint. “Let's go for a walk.”
Even more confused by the abrupt mood shift, Rain hesitated. The man was sex in cowboy boots but possibly emotionally unstable. Sensing Rain's hesitation, Joon slipped a hand around his neck and pulled him into a kiss. “It's just a walk.”
Abruptly thinking a walk on a moonlit night with a half-naked Joon sounded like the best idea ever, Rain linked their arms. “Let's walk.”
As they strolled away from the club, down the street lit with moonlight and fluorescent signs, they talked about everything from books to politics to music. They were laughingly arguing over the best current rock group in Korea when Joon yanked Rain into a dark alley.
“Wha-” Rain felt rough bricks against his back as Joon crowded against him.
“Now for that taste of Rain. I think I've been parched long enough.”
Rain's eyes widened as Joon smiled and then lunged for his neck. The smaller man was stronger than Rain expected. There was pain, pleasure, and the fires of hell, all centered on Joon's mouth on his neck. He wanted to ask what was going on, protest this couldn't be real, until he slipped into darkness.
