i think its only when you quit. all the smokers start dying (sp?) when they start quitting, so i think that the cigarettes themselves invoke some kind of autoimmuninty type thing, where the act of smoking itself will prevent you from dying from smoking.
k, thats probably bullshit.
and i got the same thing from catcher in the rye.
