Man, living in a neighborhood that is predominantly Mexican and Chinese comes with its perks (I can buy fresh aloe and lychee and other weird shit for next to nothing and no one is over 5'5"), but I forget how much these folks love them some explosives. They're setting off the leftovers tonight and it sounds like I'm under attack. I appreciate ( Read more... )

Its the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center. (towncountry.com to view the cheeseball-ery)

As much as part of me wanted to go to Vegas, I was happy that they changed it to San Diego for this reason.. The training schedule is really bananas but we get one day off and I'd be totally down for hangin. Especially if you'll take me grocery shopping : ) Otherwise, we have this meal voucher for the blechy hotel restaurants to subsist on, which amounts to $600 worth of side salads for vegans. So seriously.. I'll trade you bodywork for car rides to trader joes.

But yeah, Sept 19th- Nov 20th I'll be there! We'll have to make plans as the date approaches.

Ah yes... it's "fireworks or gunshots?" season in my neighborhood too, but we don't get the good produce to go with.

I miss that about the PR neighborhood I used to live in. I don't miss the rape threats en route to the post office, but cheap limes were good.

Oh, we don't really have gun shots. We just have overzealous Independence Day celebrants. I wasn't as much fearing real weapons as much as I feared a firework becoming deadly in the hands of the wrong hapless drunk moron.

Yeah, sometimes I miss having roti and callaloo and other Caribbean-specific fare from Crown Heights, but then remember how much more I like not getting followed and threatened daily. Man, Sunset Park is such an upgrade...
