If the Livejournal front page didn't tell you my birthday is today, now you know. I'm 23. No need for you to fall over to congratulate me, as I didn't do anything to deserve it. This is the day where I get most of the year's posts on my Facebook wall. The whole social custom around birthdays means little to me. Frankly most social customs do. If

The presents are a result of the perceived social importance of a birthday. Same thing as cake. Presents aren't the point.

Doesn't mean I don't like them, I just don't like what they're tied to. Any day is a great day to give or receive gifts and everybody likes it. No reason is required beyond that.
