Aftershock

In case people haven't heard, there is a high possibility (70%) that a magnitude 7 quake could hit in the next three days. The possibility drops to 50% after that until March 16. Shindo 6+/6- conditions are expected, so get somewhere safe and get away from the coasts if you are still there ( Read more... )

I think most major earthquakes have at least one big aftershock, this grows in power in comparison to the main quake itself. Hopefully it will be under land, and won't cause a tsunami! Japan's buildings can stand up to "just" an earthquake pretty well.

Really big quakes can, of course, set off other fault lines, however. And the whole region is full of them... stay safe out there.
