My secretary is an extremely thoughtful woman. After the first 3 days of this week running around like a maniac trying to cover multiple teams while the Traffic Supervisor was on a business trip I found Southern Living Magazine & Saveur Magazine stolen from the lobby magazine stack (before they were put out!!) and in my inbox with a note saying ( Read more... )

your secretary sound top-notch.

i'll have to check out that saveur issue. do you ever read cook's illustrated? i'm going on a detox diet (by request from my naturopath). i need to find recipes that fit the diet's restrictions. ugh.

Ann Arbor is even mentioned in this month's Saveur!! Apparently, Zingerman's Roadshow (it's a little Airstream trailer about a mile outside of downtown in a shopping strip) is one of the 7 best places in America to get a donut!!

Never read Cooks Illustrated but it sounds interesting... I'll have to check it out. Also my friend just got the first issue of "Blueprint" Martha Stewart's version of Domino and says it's really really good!!

On the diet restrictions have you checked out Cooking Light? They always have a few good recipes...

i think you and rodney would like cook's illustrated. i think it would appeal to the science-nerd factor. it's got an alton brown feeling to it. it's pretty informative. lots of good standard recipes and tips on how to troubleshoot.

i've been looking for blueprint up here but i don't think it's available yet. all hail martha!

i checked out the copies of cooking light that i have but my diet is so restrive that i can't eat anything in them. no wheat, sugar, yeast, fruit, mushrooms, etc. i can't have anything that was once fermented or made by fermentation (no beer/wine, vinegar, condiments, cheese, soy sauce/fish sauce). i'm not sure what i'm going to do for 30 days.

awww, how thoughtful is she? :)

cooks illustrated is a fairly in-depth mag. have you seen america's test kitchen? it's kind of like that on paper. i got a free copy and my mom likes some of the recipes in there though i haven't really taken the time to really look through it.
