There was the fear of riots in the street in Berlin for Mayday today, which is a springboard holiday for anti-fascist and anti-capitalist parades, demos, concerts and of course, tear gas, rocks and violence. he first of May was big in Leipzig - and I found myself right in the middle of the riots between neo-nazis, leftist extremists and the police. Of course this was due to my natural curiosity, so it's my own fault that I was exposed to tear gas, almost hit by stones and beer bottles and threatened by policemen. No one was expecting something to happen like the audience in a theater. All we wanted was just one look at the nazi pack, which was completely hidden behind at least hundred meters of barricades and hundreds of policemen forming lines to protect those inveterate people. Who come here each year. First, they wanted to march to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal, the monument built as a reminder of the victory against Napoleon and used during the 3rd Reich as a means of propaganda and nationalistic pride. They were detained, every single time, by an enormous majority of people opposing nazi ideas. Now they are trying to provoke leftist organizations and students (who, in Germany, mostly follow leftist ideals) by marching right through their ( ... )
