So my professor likes to make a big deal of creating a community of learners, and reminds us how the people in our classes are going to be our colleagues for the rest of our lives. This is exactly how I feel right now. I moved where I am at the end of December and I don't have roommates, but my "friends" treat me quite similar to that. It is really difficult to start again in a new place, and I often think cliques will never disappear - high schools are notorious for them but most people still seem to do it way into adulthood.

You're not a bad person. Maybe this person in your class just doesn't agree with anything you say and thus feels that they should not have to friend you via facebook ( ... )
