Pretty insightful and definitely could work. Progress a little at a time should add up... creating a virtuous cycle (loop) instead.
I've had some success getting over fear starting with the following question:
What is my fear trying to remind me of? Is there some hurt that it's trying to keep me from again. Often that can help open up the buried things, so they can be worked through. Some pain that I should be learning from, instead of allowing it to subconsciously affect my actions. Or if I find there's nothing there, sometimes it's easier to let it go.
I'm definitely not at my best right now (super high stress), so they've built back up, but soon enough I'll have time to start working at it again.
