Rose: Can't you come through properly?
The Doctor: The whole thing would fracture. The two universes would collapse.
Track 1: I Belong to You ~ Muse
How much pain has cracked your soul?
How much love would make you whole?
You're my guiding lightning strike
I can't find the words to say, they're overdue
I'd travel half the world to say "I belong to you"
Human Doctor: I'm part human. Specifically the ageing part, I'll grow old and never regenerate. I've only got one life, Rose Tyler. I could spend it with you, if you want.
Rose: You'll grow old at the same time as me.
Track 2: Human of the Year ~ Regina Spektor
“Outside the cars are beeping out a song just in your honour.
And although they do not know it,
all mankind are now your brothers.”
Track 3: Sterne ~ Xavier Naidoo
"Ein Mann tragt seine Uhr am Armgelenk
Wird er von Uhren arm gelenkt
Schenk dem Zeitabluaf keine Aufmerksamkeit
und vergiss, was abzulaufen scheint"
The Doctor: I'll have to settle down. With a house or something - a proper house with... with, with doors and things - carpets! Me! Living in a house!... Now that, that - that is terrifying.
Track 4: Brothers on a Hotel Bed ~ Death Cab For Cutie
“On the back of a motorbike
With your arms outstretched, trying to take flight
Leaving everything behind
But even at our swiftest speed
We couldn't break from the concrete
And the city where we still reside”
Track 5: My Mathematical Mind~ Spoon
“I want to change your ways
I said I'm gonna get it right one of these days
and I'm looking through you
riding the brakes”
Lilith: But your heart grows cold, the north wind blows, and carries down the distant....
Rose?
Doctor: Oh, big mistake, 'cause that name keeps me fighting!
Track 6: Death and All of His Friends~ Coldplay
“I don’t want to battle from beginning to end
I don’t want a cycle of recycled revenge
I don’t want to follow Death and all of his friends
And in the end
We lie awake, and we dream of making our escape”
Rose: I- .... I love you.
The Doctor: Quite right too.
Track 7: In Our Bedroom After the War ~ Stars
"Listen the birds Sing
Listen the bells ring
all the living are dead and the dead are all living
the war is over and we are beginning"
Track 8: Effington~ Ben Folds
“Maybe I should ditch this little white rental on the interstate
And start a new f'ing life...in effington
I could change my name, grow a beard, start a family
Or I could just keep moving on, moving on, moving on, moving on
Not stop 'til I get to Normal.”
Rose: Alright, both of you, answer me this. When I last stood on this beach, on the worst day of my life, what was the last thing you said to me? Go on, say it.
The Doctor: I said "Rose Tyler".
Rose: Yeah?...and how was that sentence gonna end?
The Doctor: Does it need saying?
Rose: New Doctor, what was the end of that sentence?
Track 9: We Are Together~ Indigo Girls
“and where we go
remains nameless
a motion picture
alive and framelss
and we are together
finally”
Track 10: Mad As Rabbits~ Panic at the Disco
"We must reinvent love."
~~~ Some Notes ~~~~
While I definitely recommend you put any twist you want on this mix, I've always though that the Human Doctor would go through several stages of "grief" even while being content and happy to be with Rose.
The Mix is split into roughly 5 parts, in what I feel would be the terms that the Human Doctor would come to terms with his new life...
1.Prologue - Worlds split and Rose and Ten find each other
2. Being Human- The Human Doctor adjusts to what it feels like to not feel the spin of the earth underneath him
3. Novelty gone - The Human Doctor looses the novelty and becomes a little overwhelmed by the "mortgage"
4. Fighting for what- He remembers who he is fighting for... Rose
5. Reinvent Love- They learn to love on their own terms, despite the madness of their lives...
Enjoy!
