We may lose, and we may win, but we will never be here again

Okay, let's see, danny told me to write an entry so i will.

winter congress was cool, kind of wierd, but lots of fun, especially sunday with that really tall patrick henry kid. The world would be a much different place if the government spent a hundred trillion dollars on needles. Ross and I calculated, thats almost TEN THOUSAND NEEDLES per PERSON per DAY. that's a lot of heroin. I am the most kickass committee chair/moderator/superhero ever, and yes, you can suck on that.

left last thursday for cambridge. I hate flying, but the flight was good, as far as trips in large metal boxes hurtling at four hundred miles an hour five miles above the ground go (did I mention I hate flying?), and we got to boston after dark. I got to ride in a mini cooper for the first time, and it was extremely cramped (I was riding shotgun), but the tollbooth guy complimented my uncle on the car (he got it last monday, it is extremely new and shiny). met my brother at the quad, which is a part of campus seperated from everything else by a mile, and bussed down to harvard square. went to get greasy chinese food at midnight, had fun meeting many of matt's friends. went to classes the next day, they were interesting, the engineering class I went to was ridiculously elementary (This is the elctromagnetic spectrum. What are some kinds of radiation with wavelengths greater than light called?), but the planetary science one was cool and felt college-y. stayed up ridiculously late playing poker. woke up late, did nothing much on saturday, had dinner with dad's friend's family in cambridge. (Interesting side-note: apparently, last time dad went out there, he showed their daughter (my age) a picture of me, and she liked it. In return, her mom (my dad's friend) sent pictures of her and her little brother, in the pool. This means pictures of this girl in a bikini in odd positions (nothing provocative, just odd). It was slightly wierd (she is pretty good looking though), but I quickly forgot about it, as I'd never actually see this girl who lived on the other side of the country). (In case you couldn't tell, that closing parenthesis returned you to the main story (as will the one coming up (well, now it will be the third in line)).) Sorry if you didn't find that "meta-joke" amusing, because I did. So yeah, I met this girl, who scrupulously avoided talking or making eye contact with me all night. As I said, a bit odd. It was an okay dinner, and they are an interesting family, and once the topic got off high school in the early seventies and turned to sports, I included myself in the conversation. that night, I again stayed up late, and had my first IHOP-at-three-in-the-morning experience. It was fun, and I ate chocolate chip pancakes (with butter and whipped cream). got up at noon on sunday, and didn't do much all day. Got up early monday to a snowstorm, got delayed on the plane for an hour at least, then finally took off and flew home.

Monday afternoon, I realize I am tired. I have some homework to finish up, so I decide to take a nap. I lay down at about three in the afternoon, fully planning to sleep until practice was half over so i didn't have to go, then get up, do some work, and try to go out. I probably finally got to sleep at aruond three fifteen.

...

I finally woke up at seven this morning.

And that's my long weekend.

Also, I read a new author this weekend, Neil Gaiman (I read American Gods). It was a good book, I liked his writing style, and I would recommend it to anyone else who actually reads books. Actually, I had read another of his efforts, a co-authored novel with Terry Pratchett called Good Omens, which I enjoyed even more than American Gods, and I would also highly recommend that book and any others by Terry Pratchett.

Now, to practice.
