I had a teacher in 8th grade that pumped all this info into our heads until we all had nearly A averages, and he was not an easy teacher. So, I have quite a good recollection of Civil War history...however, time has kind of swept some dust over those memories, but I still recall them well. It was an interesting war, and there are quite a bit of similiarities between the time leading up to that war, and the present day. that is one thing we must do and that is learn from our past and there are some similarities between the two times.. i just hope its not to late for people to realize what has happened before.... thats awesome that you had an 8th grade teacher like that.. i got a good taste of civil war history in my AP US History class my junior year in high school.... and the teacher mr von deck was incredible and inspired my love of the civil war... we spent quite a bit of time on it but we had so much more to cover also... the war was so interesting...
