Someone else would have stepped up if I hadn't. If nothing else, Laura was trained in the Heimlich maneuver and life-saving and would have jumped in. I'm the hero Golden Corral needed, not the hero Golden Corral deserved. ;)

And I don't mean to downplay it, really, but I guess that's my nature, just like it's UNLIKE my nature to stand by and do nothing when I know how to help.

I'm going to say that someone would have stepped in and helped because I have faith in my fellow humans, but yes, things could have gone much worse and I'm glad I was able to help her out.

She said that I/we didn't know how grateful she really was that I was there, and thanked me profusely. I think she was a little embarrassed and for some reason I was a bit too. Heh.

I've done similar things before and been told, like this time, to not downplay how much I helped/that I'm a hero. That's just...not me. I have faith in my fellow humans that someone else would have stepped in if I hadn't.
