ow. that doesn't look very good at all. Have you checked all the connections? I.e. not only the one on the HDD but also on the mainboard? Based on your previous post I did suspect the power supply too (and it might have been) but now it could be anything: faulty mainborad, RAM, HDD or any other periferal...
Try the following BEFORE totally wiping your HDD: unplug or remove (unplug) all devices from the mainboard (including RAM). Add only the bare minimum (Graphics card, HDD, some RAM - check Mainboard for minimum) and keyboard. Try again.
Just as a note: the "RAM check" the BIOS does isn't really a check just a probing to see how much is installed.
And remember to ground yourself before handling electronics...

This is from the PC, after performing enough miracles to at least be online again: By HDD, I meant one of my extras that ain't being used for anything else at the moment; thing is, it was my first portable HDD, 300GB; and I've since gotten a second one-terabyte drive that I've since backed up all my stuff in, including the factory image. And yes, I HAVE since flashed my BIOS--in more ways than one, but I'll get to that in my next LJ entry. ;)

And yes, I HAVE grounded myself before handling my hardware, I have to at least CARRY it by its carcass whenever I move it to a suitable space, don't I? ;)
