We all change when we go to college, its inevitable. In some ways I think our parents want us to still be little kids but we aren't because we've experienced independence. It's really hard. I know I'm a lot more selfish and bitchy than I was in high school but its not all bad I'm tougher too. Unfortunately you can't take back the last five years. What you can do is tell your parents how much you love and appreciate them and make an effort to be better toward them. I didn't know you in high school but I do know that you are an amazing person now, I hope that your parents can see that in many respects you are a better person now and you will continue getting better with time. I love you!

I agree with the wise person who commented before me. I think that college is an even harder transition for parents than it is for students. Prior to college, parents have a pretty firm grasp on what their children experience. That all changes when you go to college. Tack on study abroad programs, living with significant others, and generally finding out what you want in your life, and I can't help but to believe that parents are pretty confused about who their children are once their children start turning into adults.
