Thoughts about the episode and a Jack & Jack fan theory

As amazing as this episode was, one of my favorite, there were two things that disappointed me. The destruction of the Statute and how the Black Rock ended up on the island. With how hyped up those two events have been, since the first season, it was very anticlimactic. Both occurred because of a large wave, from a storm more than likely caused by Jacob. Seriously, that's it!!! I was really expecting it to be much more grand, especially the Statues destruction. If Jacob did cause the storm, than it can be said that Jacob's "hand" picked up the ship and placed it in the middle of the island. That would make it better. But I was expecting the Statue's destruction to have been occurred by something more directly tied to the island. Not a random event.

Now for the good.

Loved that almost the entire episode was Richard's back story. It deserved all that time and was great to see him have it. Also, I thought that it was interesting to see that everything Richard has done was for his wife. The reason he became locked up, why he ended up on the island, and why he chose to help Jacob and live forever. He's done everything he can to get back to his loved one, much like Desmond.

I'm really liking Hurley's role this season. It's great to see that he's finally accepted his gift and is using it. His role has been expanded and in an extremely helpful and important way.

A listener on the latest Jay & Jack podcast had a theory about MIB and Jacob that has really got me thinking. Their theory ties into the one of Jacob and MIB being the same person. They think that MIB is the evil part of Jacob and that Jacob pushed him out of his body at some point. With MIB's line about Jacob taking his body, I think this theory could have some merit. It would explain why MIB has to use other people's bodies when communicating with others. It also explains why MIB hates Jacob so much. While Jacob still occupies his body, and while someone is alive to take Jacob's place, MIB can never have his body back.

It's is an interesting idea and one that I'm not completely sold on, but will keep it in mind during the last 8 episodes.
