Thought for the day...

"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that world will not devote itself to making you happy."

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know I am adding you to my friend list, if that's okay with you though;) I've seen you around WC and here on LJ. I never got around to adding you because I noticed a lot of people are not accepting new buddies at the moment.

Btw, read your comment in NYCLaura's journal about the whole mooch/lazy/get your act together at 15. Though I didn't say much in my post, like you, at first I was a bit taken aback by the original post. I tried not to take it too personally because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I believe that a person is only 18-25 once and you've got the rest of your life to get serious and become successful. Does that make me a moochy, unmotivated bitch, I don't think so. But if it does in someone in a "better place" than I am, so be it. Kwim?

Amen Sista!

I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers too much with my comment to NYCLaura, but I just had a total gut reaction to that post (as I have had to some others of her's but never responded). Kinda regretted it the minute I hit "post comment".

I must admit that I was rather impressed with how she replied and hope that she doesn't think I'm a jerk. I certainly don't think she is. She seems like a really nice person who is very honest and open about her life, accomplishments, and views. Gotta hand it to someone for that.

And welcome to "Lumber.."! I'll friend you too.

Cheers!
Jennie

I think your comment was honest and genuine. I don't think that makes you a jerk at all! I don't think anyone is a jerk at this point:) I just don't want to be categorized or put into someone's stereotype just because they chose a different direction in life. I'm happy with my choices and I have little regrets. I may not be able to fly around the world on a moment's notice but 1. that's not really my deal and 2. I like to think I've got plenty of time. We're only young once. I was never one for trying to take on too much all at once! lol Now that I think about it, I am pretty lazy!

Hi there,

I've seen you around in various journals and just read your post in NYCLaura's journal about the Katrina rescue ops - I thought it was one of the most intelligent and well thought out, as opposed to gut-reaction angry responses, I have read. I would love to follow along with your journal if that's OK with you!

Hi Jennie -

I've seen you around a lot in mutual friends' journals (and agree with a vast majority of your opinions!) and before the great WC exodus, I think I went through yours there a bit (if I remember right, lovely layered wedding dress?).

Would love to be added as a friend if you're so inclined, I'll be adding you to my list (I used to be "booka" on WC, one of the '04 brides (it's funny, it's almost like an alumna thing).
