bad things and sorta silver-like linings

When I got to the transit station after work last night, I found that someone had broken into my car. Shattered the driver's-side front window. Darn it all. Stole my GPS. Noooooo! I loved that GPS! I am so directionally challenged, and that GPS was a godsend ( Read more... )

I'm sorry you had such a crappy day. :o( It's good that you can see the silver lining, but I know it doesn't undo the crappy... just helps one deal with it.

But it makes me smile to think you have such a wonderful, supportive person in your life.

Thanks. T took the day off work to get the car window fixed and check into the insurance stuff, so everything got taken care of, for which I am very grateful. The further bummer, though, is that while the cost for the glass is covered by insurance, the GPS unit falls under our home insurance and thus is below our deductible. So we are out the GPS. Ah well.

We called in the serial number of the GPS in case the guy tries to sell it to a pawn shop, but I'm not optimistic we'll ever see it again. There are just so many car break-ins that happen. Kind of sad when we get to the point in our society where we have to shrug our shoulders and say "Oh well" about getting stuff stolen. My son asked, "Did the police catch the robber?" And I was thinking, "No, but the police certainly filled out paperwork. And that will have to be good enough."
