I don't often weigh myself, because I get way too wrapped up in the number and freak out if it's a number I don't like. However, I understand that it's a good thing to weigh yourself now and then to make sure your weight is going in the right direction. So after working out for about a month, I figured it was safe to weigh myself ( Read more... )

Well, while I do understand, and have felt the same disappointment of not being closer to my ideal weight, it is all about getting in better shape, and if you're feeling better already, that's never a bad thing. :-)

Yes, that is the way I've had to come to peace with the dreaded number on the scale. My cardio and muscle strength feel like they have come a long way in a relatively short amount of time, so that's something to hang my hat on, so to speak.

But I'm still a very vain woman, so I want to be lean and itty bitty too. Not sure if I could ever be really tiny, so I will have to settle for "compact."

Don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat does. I've no doubt that you have muscle where you didn't before, and so now it's simply burning off the excess fat. Weight...has nada to do with anything; just know what you want your body to look like, and then shoot for that. (with realistic expectations)

That's very true, and I know I have more muscle and less excess fat than I had before. My clothes fit a lot better, and there's a lot less jiggle in my belly. These are all positive changes.
