stupid world war II

OK, World War II actually wasn't stupid, but I'm annoyed with it right now anyway. Why did I disappear suddenly? Well, I was busy for a few days, and then I was hit with having to do a huge-ass index at work for a book on the war in the Pacific. Even just shelving books in the ww2 section of the library is boring.

I've worked on some of the military history books that I've really enjoyed and found interesting. But those have generally been the books on much smaller subjects, like one particular battle or regiment. Those tend to have more personal details that draw in the reader. But the whole Pacific campaign is, as it turns out, much harder to connect with. And the book was so long--348 pages--I felt like I was on the Bataan Death March myself.

Congrats on the working out! I went through a stage many years ago where I worked out at least four times a week every week for about two years. I felt great. But I got out of the habit and have never been able to get back into it. I envy you!

Oh, yes, "the habit" is key. I've had to convince myself that working out is my habit now, a sort of mind over matter thing. Also, I watch the show The Biggest Loser, and I keep imagining one of the trainers from that show (Jillian, the impossibly hot trainer from hell) yelling at me if I consider slacking off.
