I thought of Noriko. The difficulty is that the story takes place here in the States. The characters are of Japanese descent, but not Japanese -- and therein lies the challenge.

I remember when SF came out, Nicole Kimberling was tracking who was buying what globally. I did have a (then) surprising number of German and Scandanavian readers. It's very interesting to see who's reading!
