[Play] A Year Of Newness And Selfishness {Cut}

Dec 19, 2005 13:59

Almost at Christmas already, certainly enough of the year past to look back and think on the latest revolution of this fair earth. It's been a very different year from either 2003 or 2004: more selfish and self-centred by far

  1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Bought a flat, started a MSc, asked a stranger to dinner, engaged a financial advisor and explored certain aspects of my sexuality
  2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No resolutions, thoughts on how my Uberlist went to follow at some stage
  3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No
  4. Did anyone close to you die? Pip
  5. What countries did you visit? France, Singapore and Australia
  6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? Space. It kept me sane last year and I forgot to protect it from other influences this year
  7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? 22nd April, WGW Break-up
  8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Engineering an opportunity to relocate

  11. What was the best thing you bought? Flat
  12. Whose behavior merited celebration? natassja13, nisaba, kitty_goth
  13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Thankfully no one
  14. Where did most of your money go? Debt or rent mortgage
  15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Picnic, and foreign parts
  16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Bleed Like Me by Garbage
  17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    • Happier or sadder? Happier
    • Thinner or fatter? Same
    • Richer or poorer? Richer
  18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Boundaries and introspection
  19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Snacking
  20. How will you be spending Christmas? With family
  21. Did you fall in love in 2005? No, though I was tempted
  22. How many one-night stands? None
  23. What was your favorite TV program? Lost
  24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No, I don't do hate
  25. What was the best book you read? The Wreck Of The River Of Stars by Michael Flynn
  26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Danzig

  30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Found myself not in the mood, so did nothing. I was twenty-eight
  31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Pondered this for a while, my first thought being "being in a relationship". I suspect however, the answer is nothing and the reason for that answer is the same as the one I give when I say I don't have regrets
  32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? Same old, same old
  33. What kept you sane? Friends
  34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? None, I don't do people from afar
  35. What political issue stirred you the most? Only the volume of non-news
  36. Who did you miss? As usual scatterbeetle, mr_prickle and emeraldgrrl
  37. Who was the best new person you met? Wendy
  38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Friendships come before relationships
  39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: Therapy is speedie's brand new drug
Dancing with the devil's past has never been too fun
It's better off than trying to take a bullet from a gun
    And she cries:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me

    [...]

    You should see my scars
And try to comprehend that which you'll never comprehend

introspection, myself, play, review
