I like having my own blog software too - I have Serendipity on my web server. I use it for my Stickler Syndrome blog. I can set up different categories as well, like you have. I used LJ and myspace because I already knew people on it, and it was easy to keep in touch. I don't think people would go out of their way to visit my self-hosted blog because it would require extra work.

Not to say I wouldn't visit yours! But I think it's time I made more use of my Google RSS feed reader, so that I have one point of entry.

It's not an account- just a name and an email address. It's easier than configuring spamcop right now.
