A couple of TV shows that I've been watching

There's not usually much original drama on British TV in the summer months that is worth watching, but this year has been an exception. First there was the BBC's miniseries of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Apparently its ratings were poor, but it's hard to see why, as I thought it was excellent. I wanted to watch Jonathan Strange when it was on BBC America, but my DVR bungled up its instructions so badly that I ended up deciding I'd wait for it to come to DVD instead.

I think it's already out on DVD over here, so you shouldn't have to wait long. (Or if you don't mind a Region 2 disk and paying for Transatlantic postage, you could order it from Amazon UK.)

Not seen either, although I have channel-surfed past Jonathan Strange a couple times and it looked interesting. I also read a good review of Eddie Marsan's performance so I probably should watch it at some point. Thanks for the heads-up!

I did know that Humans has been renewed, which is very good news. Apparently it had excellent viewing figures. It's very encouraging that something so intelligent could be so popular.

The parody of academia aspect of Strange and Norrell hadn't occurred to me, but I think I can see what you mean. I haven't reached Strange's entrance yet in reading the book, but certainly the portrayal of Norrell in the TV adaptation seems to have been spot on.
