This seems to be going round currently, so here's my own "countries visited" map. It's a little misleading for the US (I've never been to Alaska, for one thing) and Russia.
That's impressive! You've been to much more of Europe than me, and Turkey? And a fair bit of North Africa; that must have been a great trip!
The standard distorted projection gives such a misleading impression of size, looking at stretched-out Russia - Africa is huge , not about the size of Russia. And look at Antarctica!
Well, when travelling in Europe I have an obvious big advantage over you. If I lived in New Zealand I doubt that I'd have ever visited Europe, hating long plane journeys and - even more - jet-lag.
Since my parents died in 2008 and 2009, I've made a conscious effort to make better use of my holidays, and to visit new places while I am still fit enough to do so. Two or three years ago, I went on a cruise round the Black Sea, and that was when I visited Turkey, Georgia and Ukraine (as well as Russia for a second time). I decided that I couldn't count Bulgaria, as it poured with rain so heavily when we were in port there that I never left the ship!
I went on a holiday to Morocco in March last year, which so far is my only visit to Africa.
Impressive! You appear to have been to at least 10 or 11 countries more than me, most of them in Scandinavia or Eastern Europe. Have you got any new countries lined up?
Canada. I'm going on a trans-Atlantic cruise in September, which will make landfall at New York, and then head along the coast of New England, and then into Canada, taking in Nova Scotia and finishing in Quebec.

You're right about the projection.

If I had to choose a way to go across the Atlantic, that would be it. Well, until they build the trans-Atlantic HS4.
