So what paper do you read?

So last night I had a lovely dinner with bigtitch and J. at the Thai Pot. (Thanks loreley_se for the recommendation!) In addition to great food and good company, the conversation ranged from topic to topic.

And at one point, I was being regaled by quotes from "Yes, Prime Minister". I found this one particularly amusing -- and still so very true I suspect!

You've not seen it? You won't regret it :) There appears to be quite a few episodes of both Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister on YouTube :)

I sometimes hear about the Guardian over here. Would probably read that one.

LOL on the descriptions of the papers.

I have to admit ... I am a Guardian reader. I blame it on my BA with a major in Politics ;D

But those descriptions are still pretty much spot on! I wonder what the equivalent would be with American papers? Washington Post. New York Times. USA Today. The National Enquirer ;)

Washington Times is read by people who think they run the country; New York Times (and Washington Post) is read by people who think they ought to run the country; Wall Street Journal is read by the people who actually do run the country; National Enquirer is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Daily News is read by people who think the country is run by space aliens. USA Today is read by people who can't be bothered knowing who runs the country (although this might be a little harsh on USA Today readers).

I read the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Quite a mix.

Ah, Yes Prime Minister. Still so funny after all these years. If you haven't seen it I suggest you rush and do so. The comic timing and the delivery of the actors match the writing perfectly.

I loved that show, and Yes, Minister. Been rewatching some of it on Amazon Prime - for free, even!

With all the recs the show is getting, I'm definitely going to have to track it down! I suspect I'll need to start with Yes, Minister and work my way up :).
