Have passport, will travel ...

So, let's talk travel. Before I moved to England, this map shows where I'd been. It looks rather sad on the face of it, but, considering the size of Canada and the US and the fact that I'd visited Vancouver, Victoria, Halifax, and Banff and various other assorted locations in Canada along with New Orleans, San Francisco, Chicago, Yosemite National ( Read more... )

When I was a kid my dad was in the army and we traveled a lot. Since then it was a few states to see family - until Highlander and all the wonderful places we went for conventions.

Bora Bora! That just sounds like such an exotic location. I'm with you there. Along with Ireland and Iceland and Zealand ...

I've wanted to go to Bora Bora, Cook Islands, Roratonga since I was a little girl. I blame my mum making we watch South Pacific when I was 5 - it was her fave movie.

I can't recall the last time I've watched "South Pacific". I feel that a rewatch is definitely called for ... :).

I love looking at maps like these! My map is actually quite heavily filled in because my mum insisted on going on adventures throughout my childhood and teens. Then when I lived in London, I traveled a lot too. I've still never been to Greece so that's high on my list as is Japan, Egypt and Australia. I've been to Canada often but not Alberta. Have heard such lovely things about Banff - would love to experience it for myself!

Prague is a gorgeous city and I'm always encouraging people to visit it. It has history, beautiful architecture, gorgeous castles and lovely people. It's also really modern in many ways so it's a lovely juxtaposition.

You definitely need to make it to Greece (and Banff -- although I'm horribly biased on that point :D). But as for Greece, the Parthenon alone is amazing.

And as for Prague, also at the top of my list. The Charles Bridge, the Jewish Cemetery, the Castle -- and all within easy walking distance. Great recs!!

We're hoping to make it to Greece during our Easter break or next summer. It's been on our lists for a long time. I actually thought we'd travel more in Europe after moving to Prague but we keep on having to go to the States (for weddings) or the UK (for theatre!!) during breaks. There's so many places I want to go (or go back to) that I shall be content to travel the rest of my life. Oh, Iceland is high on the list as well!

Prague is stunning! And, it's so easy to get everywhere. We live right in the city centre and I love how easily we can visit all of those places. I would say India is another can't miss place but you've already done that; I remember your posts about your trip. Peru - Machu Picchu is so beautiful. I haven't been yet so I can't vouch for it but I get many suggestions for Plitvice, Croatia; the national park there looks amazing.

Clearly, there are many, many places left to explore! :)

I understand about the "having to go back to the States" thing. My parents are still in Canada so much of my holiday time is spent travelling there. As for theatre, I'm lucky to be based here in London so that doesn't take up too much of my holiday time ;).

You have piqued my interest with Machu Picchu and Peru -- I think that needs to go on the list. And Iceland as well! A friend of mine visited last year and it sounded like an amazing trip.

As you said, so many, many places still left to explore!

Have been to Banff a couple of times and I agree. I think it's the most beautiful place on earth. The road between Banff and Jasper is unbelievably gorgeous. I certainly have a bucket list.

Next 2 years I plan on going to Ireland and I'm looking into Spain, Portugal and Morocco. I also want to see Tibet, Iceland, Bora Bora, go back to Norway, Switzerland, and Japan - and always the UK. I'm going to Australia and New Zealand in Jan.

Recommended - Venice (best city ever), southern Wales for the castles, Delphi (Greece), Rome, Kyoto, Cornwall, southeast England for the gardens, Paris for the museums. In the States, Yellowstone, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite National Parks.

Near Jasper.

*That* is a magnificent photo!

As for your bucket list, it's remarkably similar to mine :).

And as for cities recommended, I would heartily second Venice. It has a character all of its own ...

Edit: By the by -- I still love that icon of yours!
