Breaking Bad ...

So. I've heard a *lot* about this show called Breaking Bad. I've seen tv writers and critics go nearly speechless in their appreciation of what they see on screen. Is it really that good? I know the regular fall season is beginning, but I'm always looking for a good show to mainline over a weekend or two.

Worth the watch?

It's an incredibly well-done show from both a writing and acting perspective. It's also very, very dark. And while I did mainline the first season, I can't imagine mainlining the whole show. Did I mention it was dark?

::waving hands in air anxiously:: Dark? That dark?

I love good telly but I know my limits. And overly dark is one of them. Hmmmmm. Perhaps I'll watch the first couple of eps and see how it goes ... I always have Glee as an antidote waiting me :D.

The first season is... not so bad. I honestly had no idea what was in store. And I don't particularly like dark stuff (especially these days), but I also don't regret watching Breaking Bad, because it is just that good. I just don't know that I would want to marathon the rest. :)

If you're saying you don't regret watching it, that alone says a lot. ::sits up straight:: I can do this. And when (if) it gets too much, I'll watch something terribly fluffy in between. :).

In a word, yes.

I watched 4 1/2 seasons of it over the course of a few weeks and was blown away. Incredible story telling of a man's descent into madness.

I don't know how I'll get through the final two episodes but I know my eyes will be glued to my tv screen.

I've decided I will give it a go. Knowing me, I'll probably watch it all during the next two weeks. It promise to be .. interesting ....

I've never watched it either - mainly because it's so dark. It's one of the reasons I've never watched Dexter or Hannibal either. I like to like the main characters of shows I watch; I want to get emotionally invested in their well-being; I want to care about what happens to them. And with shows like these, where I'm repulsed by the primary character(s), I just don't enjoy watching. So I don't.

I know what you mean.

However, with Hannibal, I've actually identified with the Will Graham character so I'm happily on the side of liking the main character (in my perspective). As for Dexter, I admit to giving up on it after Season Two.

As for "liking" the main character who is morally quite dubious, have you watched "Graceland"? I'm quite infatuated with the show and it's main character. He walks that difficult line beautifully.

Mr fifi has just finished mainlining it. I must say, it is incredibly well done. I did initially find it a little too much to handle, on the dark side, but also it is addictively good, so you can't really stop once you start. As an unfolding story, it is jaw-dropping :D

I've been seriously mainlining it. I'm already into Season 3 (good thing I don't need much sleep!). So far, it *hasn't* been as dark as I expected it to be -- but I suspect that's because I've had these huge expectations coming in.

I'm very keen to see how it continues to develop. The continuity is amazing from season to season. Someone is reading the Writer's Bible for the show and staying true to the storyline. Let's see what Seasons 3 and 4 have in wait!

Awesome! I think it just gets better and better, though I only catch the odd moment :)

I think so! Breaking Bad is a great story of how well meant intentions lead to some very bad decision making!

I've been mainlining the show for the past couple of nights and I see what you mean. Bad decision making indeed! And I suspect there's much more still to come ...
