Yet another yuletide letter! Whoot!
Dear Santa,
Thank you for being willing to write me a fic, especially for one of my very-odd fandoms. I figured I could give you a little more information about what I like and a little bit about each fandom in general.
Well, I really like angst, but I like happy endings more, and I especially love angsty stories with happy endings. At the same time, I'm also a huge sucker for good old fashion fluff and romance and love and well, all that sort of stuff. Feel free to do whatever, just... please don't make me cry, 'kay? And I like my characters, well - in character. If you decide to write a sex scene, I certain won't be upset, but I'm really not big on PWP and I like my sex pretty vanilla. And it's the characters I love and their interactions together. As long as it's good, I'm just as happy with a gen story as I am with a relationship fic. I am, at heart, a slasher/yaoi-fan/whatever you want to call it, so for the most part, I would prefer slash to het if you're going to make it a romance. Also, while I have my favorite characters in each fandom, I like the rest of the cast too so don't feel like you have to limit yourself to just them.
The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius -There isn't a canon pairing in this that I don't love, but from the very beginning my absolute love of this series has been Barry's and Jeremy's friendship. I rather believe that without Jeremy, Barry wouldn't quite be as human as he is, and in the end it's Barry who really needs Jeremy. I would love to see something done with them for when they're older, see how their friendship develops, and if you could make a believable slash relationship out of it - I would be over the moon.
Journey to the West (Xi You Ji) - Okay, I love Saiyuki, but please, don't use that anime for this. I actually adore the original Chinese novels its based off, especially Monkey who was a freakin' lot more intelligent than he is in Saiyuki. I'm not looking for any romance here, but I certainly won't turned it down. If you don't want to fit something into the original storyling, perhaps a more serious retelling of the series set in a modern world?
Menkui - I love Menkui and I adore Kotori. I would love to see something done with his relationship with his brother because I thought that was an underplayed element in the manga, and I figured sooner or later, something has to happen between them to resolve Kujaku's feelings for Kotori. I certainly have absolutely no problem with incest, so if it ends with them being all happy and together, well, I'll love it. However, I know that's a squick for some people, so don't feel like you have to do that if you don't feel comfortable. :)
I've locked most of my livejournal this year, but if you want to get a better feel for me, please let me know and I can unlock some of my posts for you to read. Also, almost all my non-Detective Conan fics that are listed on the side of my journal are posted somewhere publicly so those you can read without needing to ask me anything (including my Barry Ween fic which might help you get a good idea of what I like in that series). I realize I didn't give that many plot ideas in all this, so if you find you're stuck, please either post something here or let the Yuletide admins know. I'll be more than happy to give a couple different plot prompts to help you out. Otherwise, please have fun!
