Can anyone recommend any Australian sites I can order stuff off (books, DVDs, that sort of thing) to get sent 'locally' straight to my bro's place in Melbourne?

You could try abebooks.com - they usually have quite a lot of Aussie sellers, and seem fairly reliable.
