When I'm writing, I find that it often helps to cast actors in the roles in my head in order to see things more clearly. So, just for fun, I actually cast the petit oeuvre I'm writing. ( Read more... )
First off, the people you've cast look so interesting I'm practically dying to see how they'll develop in your stories. I maintain that this is a great technique to keep the creative juices flowing and it will really ground the characters for you.
Secondly, I love Jodie Foster!!! And you chose two of her movies, hooray!
Thirdly, Weltschmerz, what a word -- only Jason would be in such a sophisticated-sounding depression. I'm really sorry Chez Rocket is taking such a toll on you! All your friends think it's such a cool job and can't wait to visit you there, but little do they know that it's sucking all the stimulation out of your life.
I'm glad at least you can cross out that final thought: And I feel too constantly exhausted to get together with those who actually do live nearby. I hope you had as good a time as I had. I sent you a text message about it with love and appreciation. :) <3 Don't hesitate to call if you want my company again. You're well worth the ten minute walk, believe me, and I'll do my best to be intellectually

I saw Silence of the Lambs pretty recently, and what really grabbed me in that movie was, naturally, Anthony Hopkins. I mean, how can you go wrong with the line: "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti"?
As for One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, I haven't seen it in a while, but I really enjoyed the book. I'll have to re-watch it and compare.
...And I've been wanting to see A Single Man for some time now.
Poor bubbeleh! Weltschmerz is the worst of all types of exhaustion. I can't imagine how draining waiting tables can be -- if it takes a toll on the things you normally love, it's just not healthy. I really wish I could see more of you this summer; one time wasn't enough. :(
We should all get together again this summer! You're going to be here for a while still, right, Miranda? That "I really wish I could see more of you" was a hint, not a lament?
Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster really made that movie. I can't watch any of the other Hannibal movies. They'll never be as good.
I'm only in town from late Thursday to early Sunday morning. Given that, Fridays and Saturdays are best for me. Jason, I know you're working then, but if you're up for hanging out again afterwards, that'd be great. M. and I might even be able to meet you there for a meal. :)
