Masu Box?

Nov 05, 2008 15:38

So this week when I flip to Monday on my Origami Fold-a-Day calendar I discover that the origami for the day is called a Masu Box.  I was like O_O  I just thought it was a funny name.  ^_^  I then wondered... what is a Masu Box used for?  My guess is it's the place where Tegoshi keeps Masu when he's bad. :P

So everyone go and fold your Masu Boxes ( Read more... )

Ahaha, that's too funny!!! :D

I was curious too, so I looked up "masu" using my favorite handy-dandy online Japanese-English dictionary, and an entry came up that said it means "measuring container." It also means "box," as in the box seats of a theater and the like. That sounds about right, doesn't it? ;)

^^ I still think your theory about Tegoshi keeping Massu in a Masu Box when he's bad is better, hehe. xD;;

What?! I've been making these boxes since forever! So they're specifically called Masu box huh. Interesting... :P

Btw, your Origami Fold-a-day calendar sounds very interesting. I love origami! Can I ask where did you buy it? Or where can I download it?

I know... that's what I thought... Masu Box? :P I bought this one at one of those temporary calendar shops they set up around Christmas. I looked on the box and found where you can purchase the new one for next year. Here's the link:

Cool. I'll take a look at stores selling calendars and see if I can find something similar.

But these boxes are pretty handy. Save the trees by recycling magazine pages to fold these boxes and use them when you're snacking or need a mini rubbish bin. :D

eh? i tried to fold it and couldn't do it >.< somehow step 5 does not work for me :-p im sure masu's box is used to stress tegoshi out, making a box which is imposible to fold, and since tego hates to lose, then he would get all stressed about not being able to fold it... yeah, that must be it.

Step 5 is easy when you do step 4 properly. Once you fold the lines correctly at step 4, you just need to fold the triangle edge inwards and it will naturally fold to look like step 5. I hope I'm making some sense...
